Engineering and Design

The Department of Engineering and Design provides students with a learning environment which is highly in tune with leading technologies.

Students who study with us gain the knowledge and training needed to meet future demands for products and services in electrical, electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, telecommunications, product design, the internet and computer engineering fields.

Our approach to the teaching of engineering and product design is underpinned by innovation and good design practice, enabling our graduates to take advantage of excellent career opportunities.

We have invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment so that our students have access to up-to-date workshops, laboratories and design studios. In these you will get hands-on engineering experience learning how to test, measure, design and make things. Our computer rooms feature all the relevant professional software creating industry-standard atmosphere. Using our workshops, computer rooms and studios, our design students learn how to bring ideas off the computer screen and into 3D full-size models and working prototypes.

Because of the diversity of directions on offer from studying in this field you could find yourself exposed to many career options. The roles are very varied and you could work in a range of industries.
