Research

Research at postgraduate level can relate to consultancy work and/or commissioned research projects. These can be carried out for varying lengths of time and at a range of levels. This process happens in one of two ways; organisations that actively seek external advice and assistance with their projects and through students and academics working with them to solve problems within their specialised field. Alternatively students may follow a project or research topic that they've agreed on with their supervisor which is not related to an external body.

Glyndŵr University offers generic and subject specific research training. The supervisor training at the University is part of an innovative staff development programme recognised by the Higher Education Academy as pioneering in its scope.

The Research Student Skills Programme is designed to assist with your skills base as you progress with your research, and later the production of your thesis, and preparation for your Viva Voce. The set of generic and subject specific programmes support you in your research. These include IT skills, presentation skills, information retrieval and library skills and the handling of Intellectual Property issues. Research training seminars are run throughout the year.
