Defence and Security

Cranfield Defence and Security based at our Shrivenham campus is the only place where experts from Academia and Officers of the British Armed Forces meet to research and teach Defence Management, Science and Technology. Our capability in the field of Defence Management and Technology is unrivalled in terms of the knowledge and expertise which sits under one roof here at Shrivenham.

We are a cutting edge research establishment with facilities to enable specialised and generic research to be carried out on the latest technology and equipment. We undertake diverse research projects and carry out consultancy and testing for many organisations.

We run many courses at postgraduate level and other short courses. Courses can be residential, modular, and/or blended learning, in the UK or overseas, on campus or on-site for industry, in hundreds of defence related subjects. We also run a series of International Symposia with key speakers from the Defence Arena.

Cranfield Defence and Security became part of the newly formed Defence Academy of The United Kingdom on 1st April 2002. The aim of the academy is to be the:

"National and international centre of excellence, providing military and civilian personnel with high quality training and education, primarily at postgraduate level, and conducting research in fields related to defence."
