Research

Research Themes: Within the School there is extensive research conducted within several research groups. The Applied Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Design and Manufacture, Energy and the Environment, Materials Engineering, Systems and Telecommunications are the current active research groups in the School. Research programmes in the School include MPhil, PhD, New Route PhD and EngD routes.

The School offers four-year EngD research programmes. The programmes provide the intellectual challenge of a PhD in a framework of experience and courses that prepare Engineering Doctors for industrial careers. At the School, over 100 research engineers have enrolled on the EngD since 1993.

Students can apply in two ways to pursue research at the School.

Brunel University Research Archive: Works carried out by researchers are freely available to the public via the Brunel University Research Archive (BURA). This includes articles, working papers, conference papers and PhD theses. Users are permitted to read, download and copy material for non-commercial private study or research purposes.

Brunel Graduate School: The School imparts skills training to all postgraduate students. The training spans from helping students at the start of their programme to mastering entrepreneurship.
